Welcome to this special edition of Home & Away. If this were a normal week, I would be writing about how meetings in Mar-a-Lago failed to jumpstart stalled peace processes involving Russia-Ukraine and Israel and the Palestinians. Or about the mounting tensions between China and both Japan and Taiwan. Or the Giants, who achieved a much-needed, convincing win Sunday even though it weakened their chance to get a haul of top draft choices that could help reboot a team that has failed for far too long.
Thanks, Richard. Your commentary is invariably thoughtful, informative and helpful. I’ll look forward to more such commentary in 2026. All the best. Dennis. Baldwin, Ponte Vedra Fl.
Obviously many conflicts around the world proved US incapable to maintain its Global presence & peace! Severe economic conditions have narrow the possibility of US to respond to all conflicts. Obviously, 2025 was the last year of US preponderance in all senses of the word; i.e. economic, political and military.
Trump policies have marked the retirement of US from most Global partnerships and efforts to bring peace to all democracies around the world. Expanding of Democracy is now in the hands of EU, which became the only Union that supports human rights and seeks partnerships to expand economic and political cooperation around the World.
As every retirement US will have its old habits which will gradually change by the Forces of Nature, Diplomacy or new Realities! Viktor HADJIEV, title: Magnus NUCLEUS for Purity of THOUGHT
First, I love your earlier books, but I cannot believe you are joint at the hip with Carolyne Kissane. I thought that you understood what is going on in China. I suggest that you subscribe to Doomberg, read their China Speed and watch their

The notion of 2050 on Carolyne's microphone, NET ZERO 2050, is pure lunacy; it is against any laws of physics. How can you, reasonably centred person, subscribe to this movement that is destroying the economy of Europe and by deindustrialization, their defence capability and impotence to help Ukraine is just beyond understanding.
While I cheer for you and your assessment of current US policies, you are entirely out on the Energy side, and maybe Vaclav Smil's "How the World Really Works" would be a good starter.
And I agree, Trump is a disaster, but the same is true about the last 10 years of policies which led to his election.

Where can you article that was mentioned on _Morning Joe_ today be located? Thanks so much.
Thank you for being fair and balanced— as in balance of power. There is little that is conservative about the Trump Administration.

I always look forward to your newsletter every week. But it has become increasingly left leaning and much less neutral and fair. Please do better RH.

In 15 years of the same zealots' green drive in Canada, we have now productivity 1/3 of US, and the only items we were able to deliver to Ukraine (other than money) were a few armoured combat support vehicles, a few Howitzers in 2022! And small arms... and wow! Boots and winter sleeping bags! https://www.canada.ca/en/department-national-defence/campaigns/canadian-military-support-to-ukraine.html#toc1
